DIY Picture Tile Coasters

DIY Picture Coasters

Above is a picture of the items you will need to complete this project.
  1. Mod Podge ( I prefer to use the matte finish)
  2. Sponge Brush
  3. A Piece of felt
  4. Clear Acrylic Coating ( I use Krylon UV Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating)
  5. A 4x4 Tile ( You can buy these individually or cases from Home Depot)
  6. Multi Purpose Glue
  7. Picture of your choice (cut down to 4x4 to fit on the tile)
  8. And a cute puppy to help :)
This is a fun, easy, quick, project for any occasion.

First you will want to take your 4x4 tile and put a thin layer of Mod Podge down to secure the picture in place. After you have glued the picture to the tile apply a thin coat of Mod Podge in one direction horizontal or vertical over the picture. Let this dry, usually takes roughly 20 minutes depending on the thickness of the coat. Remember you only need to put a thin layer because we will be applying several thin layers to seal the picture.

After waiting for the first coat to dry, apply the next coat of Mod Podge. When applying this coat be sure to apply the thin coat in the opposite direction, than you applied the first coat. You will want to continue this process at least four times, each time applying the coat opposite directions. This will give the picture a more of a uniform look.

After you have applied 4-5 coats of Mod Podge let the tile completely dry. Once the tile is dry take your acrylic coating spray paint and spray a thin layer of the tiles. You will want to do this 2-3 three times, of course, waiting for the first coat to dry completely.

Once the tile is completely dry you will want to use the multi purpose glue to glue the piece of felt to the back of the tile. This will prevent the tile from scratching tables. Be sure to cut your felt down to 4x4 to ensure it covers the complete back side of the tile.

Once the felt is glued in place and dry... the project is complete!
